Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
Overview
TakeCover ("the app") is built with privacy as a default. The app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. All processing happens entirely on your device.
Data We Do Not Collect
- No account or login required
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No crash reporting sent to third parties
- No advertising identifiers
- Your videos and audio never leave your device
Photo Library Access
The app requests access to your photo library for two purposes:
- Read access — to let you select a video to edit
- Write access — to save your exported video back to your library
This access is used exclusively within the app. No media is uploaded or shared.
On-Device Processing
All audio analysis, AI stem separation, and video export are performed locally on your device using Apple's frameworks (AVFoundation, Core ML). No audio or video data is sent to any server.
Local Storage
The app uses the following system APIs for local storage only:
- NSUserDefaults — stores your app settings and preferences
- File system (NSFileManager) — creates temporary files during audio and video processing; these are automatically deleted after export
Third-Party Software
The app uses Open-Unmix (UMX), an open-source audio source separation model licensed under the MIT License. This model runs entirely on-device and does not collect or transmit any data.
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
